Cabbies in permits rush

MORE than 100 taxi companies have applied for 27 available new licences in the Capital.

A report showed evidence of unmet demand for taxis and that three new licences are required. Three licences have been granted, with 119 applications for the remaining 27.

The applications are to be considered by the council on 18 January and 4 February.
