Businessman tops awards

A BUSINESSMAN who founded a company which helps elderly people remain in their own homes rather than move into sheltered housing has been named the city’s top entrepreneur.

Tim Cocking came out on top in the regional finals of this year’s Prince’s Trust Youth Business Scotland Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

Mr Cocking, 27, founded Bright Care, which specialises in keeping elderly people in their homes by providing affordable care at home.

He was handed the £1000 first prize at an awards ceremony hosted at City Chambers and may be entered in the national final.

Mr Cocking said: “It was a real honour to win. It’s not about the money, it’s about the recognition for the hard work.”
