Security firms will also be displaying alarms, locks and other crime prevention tools.

Inspector Alistair Riddell said: “As part of our Community Commitment pledge, Lothian and Borders Police and our partner agencies engaged with local businesses in Whitburn to determine the root causes of the crimes being reported.

“The feedback we received helped structure these workshops.

“Our discussions also revealed that many of the staff at companies where crimes had been committed felt they would benefit from training on how to deal with abusive customers.”
