A MAJOR milestone has been reached in the multi-million pound redevelopment of St Columba’s hospice.
The hospice, which is being rebuilt at its home in Granton, has its second storey in place.
The new-look £26 million hospice, due to open next year, will double in height, feature 30 beds and many of the original features of the previous building have been incorporated into the renovation.
A topping-out ceremony has taken place to mark the building reaching its full height, and Graham Construction is continuing to work on the exterior and interior of the new structure.
Ian Adam, chairman of the board of governors at St Columba’s Hospice, said: “We are building a hospice which will provide state-of-the-art specialist care today, and which will also give us the flexibility to adapt to future developments in palliative care.
“That’s what makes this project so exciting, and we are delighted to have reached this milestone.”
