Build electric cars and give economy a lift, urges Boyack

THE Scottish Government has been urged to press ahead with plans to support the development of electric cars.

Edinburgh Central Labour MSP Sarah Boyack, the Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Environment, said the development of 'green' cars could help to boost jobs in Scotland as well as helping the environment.

Asked in the Scottish Parliament what policies the government has in place to support the development of electric vehicles, Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson said: "We will continue to do all that we can to support this industry."

Ms Boyack said: "These vehicles could play a vital part in the fight against climate change and can be produced in Scotland."
