Bug outbreak closes wards

THREE hospital wards in Edinburgh are closed because of the norovirus winter vomiting bug.

NHS Lothian said wards at the Western General Hospital, Liberton Hospital and the Sick Kids had been closed to new admissions in a bid to stop the spread of the infection.

Latest figures show that, as of last Monday, 39 patients and ten staff in the Lothians had been affected by the bug, whose outbreaks spread quickly in closed communities.
