Budd earning £2,885 a week

SIR Alan Budd, head of the Office for Budget Responsibility, is being paid £2,885 a week, it has emerged.

Treasury Economic Secretary Justine Greening revealed the rate, excluding VAT, in a written Commons reply. It amounts to

150,020 a year – almost 8,000 more than the Prime Minister earns at 142,500.

Ms Greening said release of the information was consistent with the coalition's approach to "transparency on public sector pay" and in line with publication of high-earning civil servants' salaries. She added that he was not eligible for a bonus
