BT customers lose phonelines after exchange fault

THOUSANDS of customers were left without phone access following a fault at a BT exchange in the Capital.

Landlines were cut off in the city, as well as East Lothian, Fife and Falkirk, before 6am yesterday. Broadband services, however, were unaffected.

Two faults were discovered at processor units at BT’s exchange in Gorgie Road, with repairs being carried out at around 9am.

A BT spokesman said: “Engineers are continuing to investigate and we are sorry for any disruption or inconvenience caused.”
