Brush with Italy for city artist
Edinburgh-based artist Alison Watt now has a painting on show in one of the world's most famous galleries.
The work, called Angel 2020, was unveiled at the Uffizi in Florence as part of an exhibition of self-portraits by modern female artists.
Ms Watt, who was an associate at the National Gallery in London for three years, visited the gallery in 1984 when she was a student at the Glasgow School of Art, but said she could never have imagined she would eventually have her art displayed there. The gallery dates back to 1560.
She said: "I feel immensely proud and honoured to be part of such an extraordinary collection with so much history."
