Brothers of Kriss Donald race killers jailed for gun feud with rival gang

Ahsan Shahid, 24, and Farooq Mushtaq, 25, along with co- accused Omar Sadiq, 21, took their dispute with another southside gang on to Glasgow's streets.

The High Court in Glasgow heard how they were involved in threats and intimidation which included the use of firearms in Pollokshields last year.

Shahid's elder brothers, Imran "Baldy" Shahid and Zeeshan Shahid, and Mushtaq's sibling, Faisal Mustaq, are serving life for the horrific murder of the Kriss Donald in 2004.

Yesterday. temporary judge Sean Murphy, QC, told the younger brothers that they had "a history of violent behaviour" and significant criminal records, given their age.

He jailed Shahid for three and a half years, Mushtaq for three years and Sadiq for five years.

And he told all three that they posed a danger to the public and would be monitored in the community after their release from prison.

He ordered Shahid and Mushtaq to be monitored for a year each and Sadiq for two years.

There is a history of bad blood between two groups from Glasgow's southside.

Mushtaq and Sadiq were convicted of pursuing Mohammed Omar Khan and Younis Ishaque in a car in Pollokshaws Road on 25 July.

Witnesses told prosecutor Andrew Miller that the pair pointed a firearm or something similar at their victims and tried to hit the car they were travelling in.

Six days later Shahid and Sadiq were convicted of carrying out a similar attack on Mohammed Imran Khan and Adil Farooq in the same area.

Sadiq was also convicted of committing a breach of the peace against Mr Ishaque and Mohammed Omar Khan.

He was also guilty of dangerous driving in speeding after Mohammed Yusif Khan and Mohammed Abdul Khan in Cathcart Road on 31 July and disqualified for four years.

The court was told that Shahid had convictions for assault, possession of an offensive weapon and culpable and reckless conduct and Mushtaq had convictions for violence.

Advocate Alan Nicol, representing Shahid, said: "His involvement was because he lives in Pollokshields.

"He intends to go and live in Lanarkshire. His family has a shop there."

Solicitor advocate Des Finnieston, representing Mushtaq, said: "He is a young man who has shown he is capable of working hard and being relatively law abiding. His parents are in ill health and he is very much the support for them."

Advocate Thomas Ross, representing Sadiq, said: "He is capable of much better. He comes from a respectable and hard working family.

"There is a degree of hostility between him and others in the community.

"To get away from this the family intends to move to England."

Kriss Donald was stabbed and set on fire by his killers, who were jailed in November 2006 for a minimum of 25, 23 and 22 years.
