Britain in Bloom candidate

THE Capital is to represent Scotland in next summer’s Britain in Bloom competition after winning the Beautiful Scotland City award.

Judges last month toured various sites, including Princes Street Gardens, Holyrood Park and the Botanics, as well as community gardening initiatives at Duddingston Village and the Canongate.

Councillor Lesley Hinds, the city’s environment convener, said: “I was thrilled to meet the judges when they visited Edinburgh. The award reflects on all the excellent work staff do.”
