Bright Christmas for Charlie

A STARVING and injured dog has been rescued after he was found roaming around a beauty spot.

Charlie, a three-year-old greyhound, was found at Chatelherault Country Park, in Hamilton, by a member of the public on Saturday.

He was underweight and covered in sores, and was taken to a local police station and then to the Scottish SPCA’s rescue and rehoming centre in Hamilton.

Gillian Boyle, who works at the centre, said: “He is very underweight and covered in open wounds which have been left untreated for some time. It’s likely that he has received these injuries from lying on hard ground.

“Thankfully Charlie is responding very well to treatment and his wounds are already looking much better. He’s also gaining weight thanks to a nutritious diet. Despite what he’s been through Charlie has a lovely, sweet nature and we are sure he will make someone a fabulous pet.”

The Scottish SPCA is trying to trace the dog’s owner.
