Bridge pests put train passengers in danger

YOUNG thugs who threw a large object at the windscreen of a passing train from a railway bridge could have caused a tragedy, transport police claimed today.

The object, thought to have been a stone, was hurled at the 4.37pm Edinburgh to Dunblane train as it passed under the "Blue Bridge" at Cornton, near Stirling.

The solid object struck the windscreen, causing it to crack.

Constable Nicky Ritchie, who is leading the enquiry, said: "This incident may have caused serious injury to the driver of the train and the foolishness of those who were responsible is beyond belief.
