Bridge collapse kills 26 on bus in India
A BUS carrying a wedding party plunged into a pond in India's remote north-eastern state of Assam, killing at least 26 people.
The vehicle was crossing a wooden bridge when it gave way and fell more than 15ft into the water below, local magistrate SK Roy said.
The accident took place late on Monday night near a village called Hajo, about 25 miles west of Gauhati, the capital of Assam.
