Brewers’ fundraising red IPA taste test raises £1000

A FUNDRAISING “brew-off” has raised more than £1000 for charity.

Cash for Kids and the Stuart Andrew Lawtie Memorial Foundation are to benefit from the challenge between Edinburgh’s Stewart Brewing and Aviemore-based Cairngorm.

Each brewery was challenged to produce a red IPA, which drinkers in three pubs were given as blind samples.

They cast a vote for their favourite, with Stewart Brewing coming out on top.

The brewery’s Jo Stewart said: “The evening was a huge success. We were excited and nervous to do it across three pubs but it really worked and we managed to raise a huge amount for charity. We cannot wait to do it all again.”

At two of the participating pubs, the Stockbridge Tap and The Cloisters, there were only three votes between the brews.

In the Bow Bar, Stewart’s was a clear winner, with 39 points to Cairngorm’s 20.

It is the third year the event has been run, and the third victory for Stewart’s.
