Boy’s arm is broken in hit-and-run

POLICE are hunting a hit-and-run driver who struck a 12-year-old boy on Marchmont Road, leaving him with a broken arm.

The youngster was crossing the road near the junction with Thirlestane Road when he was knocked down by a small, green car travelling north.

The driver initially slowed down before fleeing the scene of the accident, which took place between 8.35am and 8.45am on Wednesday.

The boy immediately got to his feet but later discovered he had a fractured left arm and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have issued an appeal for information.

A police spokesman said: “The young boy suffered a painful injury and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the police immediately. We would similarly urge the driver of the car to get in touch as soon as possible.

“There is a chance they may not have realised the severity of the collision.”
