Boy,12, seriously injured after being struck by train

A 12-year old boy has been left with serious injuries after an acident at a train station.

Prestwick train station

He was hit by the train at at Prestwick Town, Ayrshire, earlier this evening.

Emergency services raced to the scene.

The station was closed as all trains continued without stopping.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said officers were called to the scene around 7:20pm.

The Daily Record reported it was being treated as an accident.

Scotrail said the station would remain closed for the rest of this evening.
