Borders cat ‘may have been thrown from vehicle’

THE Scottish SPCA has launched an investigation after a terrified kitten was found in the Borders, suffering from injuries consistent with being thrown from a moving vehicle.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was contacted to rescue the five month old male kitten on Friday evening after he was discovered outside a block of flats on Howden Road, Jedburgh.

The kitten, who has been named Jack, is continuing to receive veterinary attention for his injuries.

Senior Inspector Jenny Scott said: “When Jack was found he was visibly shaking and was clearly in shock and absolutely terrified.”

She continued: “Although we can’t say for certain what happened to Jack, the vet has advised his injuries indicate he was thrown from a moving vehicle. His claws were worn right down, his paw pads were open and bleeding heavily and he had a bald patch on his tummy with a scuff mark, possibly from where he hit the ground.

“Jack is currently on pain relief and is continuing to receive the treatment and care he needs at the vets.”

Senior Insp Scott added: “We are very keen to hear from anyone who recognises Jack or knows what may have happened to him.”
