Books bring in £103,000

THE annual Christian Aid Book Sale in the city has raised more than £100,000.

A total of 103,000 was raised at the 38th sale at St Andrew's and St George's West Church last month.

A cheque will be presented to Kathy Galloway, head of Christian Aid Scotland on Sunday.

The sale, which welcomed Scots Makar Liz Lochhead as its patron, offered a number of high-value items, including one of the most important works in the history of medical science - a tiny 17th century volume entitled, The Circulation of the Blood, by court physician and royalist, William Harvey.
