Bonfire night dogs warning

A WARNING has been issued to dog owners to prepare for Bonfire Night to mininise the distress caused by fireworks.

The Kennel Club advises owners to remain calm during fireworks displays as dogs will pick up on their reactions.

Lynn Aitchison, a regional mentor for the Kennel Club Accredited Instructor scheme for Scotland, said: “With puppies and dogs who are experiencing fireworks for the first time, the dog will pick up part of its initial reaction from you, the owner. If you shriek then the dog will react negatively to the next firework he hears.”
