Bones ‘not suspicious’

THE discovery of bones in Holyrood Park last week is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

The remains – which officers have confirmed are human – were stumbled upon by a hillwalker at the foot of Salisbury Crags at around 5.30pm last Friday.

The area in which the discovery was made was cordoned off by police and the bones were removed for forensic examination.

A police spokesman said the age of the bones had still to be established and that inquiries were ongoing.
