Body of missing pensioner recovered from Forfar loch

THE body of a missing pensioner was today recovered from Forfar loch in Angus.

The missing man was named as George Roy, 78, from Forfar.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: “Tayside Police can confirm that a body of a man was recovered from Forfar loch today at about 3pm. He was identified at the scene as being 78 year old George Roy of Forfar. Mr Roy had been reported missing earlier today.”

He added: “Mr Roy’s family are understandably upset by their sudden loss and have said that he will be greatly missed. They do not wish to make any further comments and have requested that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
