Body of man recovered from sea off Angus coastline

THE body of a man was recovered from the North Sea off the Angus coastline today.

The body was spotted in the water by a fisherman around a mile and a half off the village of Auchmithie at around 11am.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “The fisherman immediately contacted the Coastguard, who in turn contacted Tayside Division. The lifeboat at Arbroath was launched and the body recovered. Police enquiries are now underway to establish the person’s identity.”

It is understood that the family of Ian Low, 59, who has been missing from his home in Montrose for more than a month have been informed of the discovery of the body.

Mr Low was last seen at his home in Ferry Street, Montrose, on Friday, 2 August. Mr Low’s car was later found, together with a pair of glasses and a jacket, on the foreshore at Auchmithie by Police officers searching for the missing man.
