Body found on shoreline after RNLI lifeboat search

A BODY was today found on the shoreline of the Moray Firth after an RNLI lifeboat was launched to join in the search for a missing Moray pensioner.

Stuart Sunter, 65, was last seen at his home in the Bishopmill area of Elgin, on Tuesday. His white Renault van was found parked in the Hopeman area on Wednesday.

And today a spokesman for the Grampian Division of Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that a body has been found on the shore front near Hopeman during the search for missing Moray man Stuart Sunter .

“Members of the Coastguard deployed as part of the search found the remains around 11am today.

“Investigations into the circumstances are at an early stage but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances regarding the death.”

The spokesman added: “Whilst formal identification of the deceased is yet to take place, from items found on the remains it appears to be missing Moray man Stuart Sunter. Mr Sunter’s next of kin has been advised. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
