Body found in River Tay near Broughty Ferry

THE body of a man was recovered from the River Tay near Broughty Ferry on the outkirts of Dundee this morning.

The body was discovered a short distance from the shoreline between Broughty Castle and the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Station.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “A member of the public spotted the body in the water at about 8am this morning and alerted the police. The local lifeboat was launched and the body recovered.”

He continued: “Police enquiries are now underway in an effort to confirm the identity of the deceased. This will include liaison with police colleagues out with Tayside in relation to any missing persons.”
