Body found in River Spey is missing Moray man

POLICE Scotland today confirmed that a body, recovered from the River Spey yesterday, was that of a Moray man who had been missing from his home for more than a week.

Sandy Gray, 66, was last seen by his wife at the couple’s home in Elgin on the morning of Friday, 13 September.

His red Seat Ibiza car was later found at the Boat o’ Brig car park near Rothes, close to the rail and road bridges over the Spey.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a body which was recovered from the River Spey near to Boat O’ Brig, Rothes, on Monday, has been identified as missing man Sandy Gray.”

He added: “There appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
