Body found on Hebridean island identified

A BODY found on a remote Hebridean island more than a month ago was finally identified last night as that of a missing Aberdeen yachtsman.

The body was discovered by a member of the public on 29 September on the island of Canna. Northern Constabulary confirmed last night that it is the body of missing sailor Neil Mackenzie, 59.

His remains have been released to his wife Sarah, 52.

Mr Mackenzie of Kirktonbridge, Skene, near Westhill, was an experienced sailor who went missing after he travelled from the north-east to the marina at Arisaig on 12 September for a week-long break.
