Body found in disused Glasgow building identified as missing woman

A BODY found in a disused building in Glasgow is that of a woman missing for more than five weeks, police said today.

The body of Diane Lann was found by a group of teenagers on Wednesday afternoon.

The 47-year-old was reported missing on Monday April 2.

Strathclyde Police said that following a post-mortem examination, there were no obvious suspicious circumstances but they have launched an investigation.

Ms Lann was last seen by her daughter on Battlefield Road, Cathcart, Glasgow, near to the Victoria Infirmary at about 9pm on April 2.

Her body was found in the former motor bike training centre in Cowlairs Road in the Springburn area of the city.

Detective Inspector Brian Dodd said: “The results of the post-mortem reveal that there are no obvious suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

“However, a full investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances which led to her being at a disused building in Springburn.

“It is more than five weeks since she was last seen and our enquiries will be focusing on what led her to the ex motor bike training centre, when did she go there, how did she get into the premises?

“We need answers to these questions and would appeal to the public for help.

“I know there have been media appeals for information but I would again like to speak to anyone who saw Diane since she was last seen on Monday April 2.

“Did anyone see her at the unit in Cowlairs Road? Does anybody have information which may assist our investigation?”

Ms Lann was 5ft 4ins, slim, with short brown hair, green eyes and a pale complexion.
