Boaters urged not to circle rescued pilot whales in Firth of Forth

BOAT users have been urged not to circle a pod of pilot whales in potentially dangerous waters in the Firth of Forth.

The appeal was issued as ten whales remained in the area of Queensferry rather than heading out to sea following a mass beaching on the Fife coast.

The bodies of the whales that died have now been removed. They were winched to the top of the cliffs near Piitenweem where the animals became stranded over the weekend.

Experts voiced disappointment that the remaining pod had travelled south-west instead of north to deeper waters.
