Blu and green lands cool competition prize

The Radisson Blu hotel in Edinburgh has been crowned sustainable champion of the year in a national competition.

The hotel picked up the award from Gram UK, the manufacturer of energy efficient commercial refrigeration.

The prize is awarded to the most environmentally conscious hotel in the United Kingdom.

Judges chose Radisson Blu Edinburgh because it put sustainability at the top of its agenda. The hotel walked away from the competition with a Gram refrigerator.

Steve Valentine, regional chief engineer of Radisson Blu Edinburgh, said: “We are delighted to receive this prize as we have always taken pride in our green programme and which for many in the hotel is second nature.

“This prize will be welcomed by our kitchen team and will certainly not look out of place in our newly-refurbished kitchen in early 2012.”
