Blind cord safety campaign is extended to the Capital

A CAMPAIGN to raise awareness of the dangers of the cords of window blinds is to be extended to Edinburgh.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is to work with trading standards officers to distribute 3000 “Make it Safe” packs in the Capital. They include a plastic device for the cord to be wrapped around.

City environment leader Robert Aldridge said: “Although incidents are rare in Scotland, one accident is one too many and anything that can be done to highlight this campaign is to be welcomed. I’m really pleased that our trading standards service will be raising awareness of safety issues around looped blind cords.”
