The Big Freeze: Llama killed by motorbike

A LLAMA was killed after being hit by a motorcycle on the Isle of Lewis.

The animal died on the road near Ness and the motorcyclist is believed to have suffered a broken arm. It is unclear how the llama and its companion escaped from their field in the village of Skigersta to wander on to the road.

Owner Peter Marshall said: "I don't know how they got out. The big gate has been solidly shut since I moved here five months ago. Suddenly it was open and they got out. I was in Stornoway when I got a call from the police saying one of the llamas had been killed in an accident."
