Big donation is music to charity’s ears

A CHARITY which provides live entertainment in hospitals, day centres and nursing homes, has been boosted by a £2000 windfall.

Music in Hospitals was awarded the funding from the John Lewis Partnership’s Music Matters programme to support a series of live concerts for children in hospitals and special schools in Edinburgh. The performances are due to be held at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, St Crispin’s School, and The Royal Blind School.

Alison Frazer, chief executive of Music in Hospitals said: “This project will provide invaluable opportunities for children in care to enjoy a shared musical experience with other patients, family members and nursing, care and teaching staff.”

Barry Blamire, managing director of John Lewis Edinburgh, said: “Music can make such a difference to people’s lives – it really has the power to bring people together in our local community.

“Music in Hospitals is a fantastic organisation which has a track record of creating inspiring local music. We’re proud to be able to support them, and can’t wait for the next concert!”
