Bid to revive town centres

OWNERS of vacant business properties are to be handed financial incentives to bring them back into use under new Scottish Government plans.

Local Government Minister Derek Mackay said the empty property rates reform would revitalise town centres.

The move could potentially see up to 5500 properties reopened, Mr Mackay said.

He said: “We plan to introduce new incentives which will revitalise our town centres.”
