Bible-quoting child abuser jailed for 5 years

A BIBLE-quoting sex abuser who photographed the naked body of his schoolgirl victim has been jailed for five years and three months.

David Sheridan, 66, of Fortune Avenue, Haddington, told the teenager that he wanted her to be his concubine and asked her to sign a document agreeing to be his mistress when she turned 16.

Lord Uist told Sheridan at the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday : "You engaged in a systematic course of abuse of this girl which involved depraved and disgusting conduct on your part, including the photographing of what occurred between you.

"She was 14 years old when the abuse began and it continued until she was 16," the judge said.

Lord Uist said it appeared from reports obtained on the sex offender that he did not regard what he had done as wrong and he did not seem to regret it.

Lord Uist also ordered that he should be kept under supervision for a further four years.

The judge told Sheridan he would be on the sex offenders register for life.
