A billboard that shows First Minister Alex Salmond, mocked up as William Wallace, and Prime Minister David Cameron either side of a woman wrapped in a Union Jack has been unveiled by specialist dating site Victoria Milan, who specialise in arranging affairs between married individuals.

The advert’s morally dubious slogan, “Relieve the passion, have an affair. Don’t burn the flag”, is touring the Scottish Parliament having already appeared in several locations around London.

The campaign aims to show that the Union will be ultimately emerge stronger after the SNP’s flirtation with independence - as long as Scotland doesn’t leave.

“Alex Salmond and his fight for Scotland to leave the United Kingdom is a perfect example of a relationship crisis that could use an affair” says Sigurd Vedal, CEO and founder of Victoria Milan. “We know from the “thank-you” letters of our 3 million members that an affair can bring passion back into their lives, helping them to revive their marriages and long relationships” he said.
