Bethany bags charity award

The Bethany Christian Trust has received one of the most prestigious accolades to be awarded at the UK charity sector Charity Awards 2011.

The Edinburgh-based charity was the only Scottish charity to win a trophy as it picked up the Effectiveness award at a ceremony in London.

Judges recognised its Passing the Baton initiative, a project to tackle social exclusion and practical housing needs for the previously homeless or vulnerable people. Chief executive Iain Gordon said: "It is a fantastic endorsement of Passing the Baton's innovative approach."
