A BENEFITS cheat has been ordered to hand over £8000 he illegally claimed in disability living allowance.
Stuart Barrie, from Livingston, was yesterday also given a six-month restriction of liberty order after pleading guilty to benefit fraud at Livingston Sheriff Court last month.
Barrie, 55, told the Department for Work and Pensions that he could not perform everyday tasks between January 1, 2010 and November 22, 2011
Lindsey Miller, head of the serious and organised crime division, said: “Stuart Barrie deliberately defrauded £8000 from the public purse.
“The money confiscated from Barrie will be added to the more than £80 million already gathered from Proceeds of Crime, to be reinvested through the CashBack for Communities programme.”
