Batman's debut goes under hammer

THE American comic in which Batman made his first appearance is expected to sell for thousands of pounds.

The restored 1939 edition of Detective Comics shows the caped crusader battling criminals on the streets of Gotham City. It is tipped to raise up to 25,000 when it is sold at auction in Gloucestershire on 16 December.
