Bank chief fails in row privacy bid

A JUDGE has refused to allow a top bank boss to remain anonymous during a cash row with his former wife.

Lady Clark ruled that no reports of the claim for maintenance on behalf of Bernard Higgins' 11-year-old daughter should include the child's name, photo or address.

But after a legal debate she said she would place no restriction on the naming of Mr Higgins, chief executive of Tesco Bank.

Mr Higgins, 50, of Abercromby Place in the New Town, has previously held top jobs with Standard Life, HBOS and the Royal Bank. He and ex-wife Christine were divorced in June 2007. She has gone to court after he reduced his monthly maintenance payments from 5000 to 3000.

She claimed his plea was about shielding himself rather than their child.

The case returns to court next month.
