Ayr pensioner dies after accident

A PENSIONER has died after being hit by a paramedic vehicle that was responding to an emergency call.

Robert Cunningham, 70, was crossing Prestwick Road in Ayr when the accident happened at about 4.55pm on Friday, police said yesterday.

It is understood that Cunningham was struck by a Ford Focus Paramedic Response Unit that was on the way to an emergency.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for witnesses and said that a report into the incident would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
