Award for Kris for work in promoting mental health

A FORMER city college student has been honoured at the Scotland's Colleges Awards.

Kris Watson, who attended Stevenson College, picked up the "student award" at the ceremony.

It follows a similar achievement last month when he was named "college candidate of the year" at the SQA Star Awards.

Kris, who has Asperger's syndrome, was honoured for his work in promoting mental health issues at the college and educating people about autism.

Stevenson College principal Brian Lister said: "We are delighted that Kris has been recognised with this award.

"We have so many talented students at the college, who overcome significant learning difficulties in order to achieve their qualifications and who go above and beyond what is expected of the average student.

"Kris's achievement will let others with Asperger's see what they can achieve - that this condition does not have to hold them back."
