Award for charity work

A CHARITY worker has been honoured for bringing vital first aid skills to Africa.

Tina Wren helped establish the Mount Kilimanjaro First Aid Community Programme, through a school in Tanzania to boost health standards among the local people.

Mrs Wren, 47, of Kirknewton, has been given a Santander Community Service Award for her efforts. She said: "I'm not bothered about this award on a personal level, but I'll use it to raise the profile of the charity work I'm involved with.

"It can be difficult, but it is possible to achieve dreams."
