Australian rape victim does not blame Scots for her ordeal

AN AUSTRALIAN woman who was savagely raped in bushes in Dalry during an eight-hour ordeal says she does not blame the Scottish people for the incident.

It has emerged that the victim, who was 24 at the time, wrote to the Solicitor General emphasising that the blame lay squarely at the door of the two Polish men responsible for the attack.

Cousins Michel Marchlewski and Tomasz Kryczyk abducted and dragged her into their makeshift drinking den beside an underpass in February last year.

After the incident she moved back to Australia with her husband.

Marchlewski was jailed for ten years and Kryczyk killed himself while awaiting trial.

Solicitor General Frank Mulholland said: "It was a lovely letter saying that the professionalism and empathy shown by the people involved in her case had been a comfort."
