Australia gets up to speed after vote

Australia's House of Representatives has approved legislation that enables the government to roll out a A$35 billion fibre-optic high-speed national broadband network.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard, whose Labour Party does not hold a majority in either? chamber, had to negotiate with Greens and independents to get the bill approved.
