Attack victim's wife in appeal

THE wife of an elderly farmer assaulted at his isolated home made an appeal for help from the public yesterday.

Sandy Ingram, 79, was last night "critically ill but stable" in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he is being treated for head injuries suffered in an assault at his home near Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday night. He was attacked after he went outside to investigate a sighting of two men.

His wife Ann, 63, said: "We are glad that people have contacted police with information, and we would urge anyone else who might know anything to contact them as soon as possible.

"We would ask for the two people Sandy went out to see to come forward and tell us what happened."
