Athletics track gets go-ahead

A NEW synthetic athletic track is set to be built at a Lothian sports centre after the plans were approved by council chiefs.

The proposals were put forward by East Lothian Council to lay the track at Meadowmill Sports Centre, near Prestonpans.

The all-weather athletics track will also have a grass sports pitch for field events including javelin, hammer and discus throwing, jumping track and pits for triple and long jump events, a high jump arena and floodlighting for year-round use.
