Assault claim leads to cordon on Leith Walk

POLICE cordoned off a section of Leith Walk after an allegation that a woman had been sexually assaulted.

Officers taped off an area around the Magnet kitchen store and stood guard at the scene yesterday morning.

Staff at the store said they were unaware why the police cordon had been established before its removal at around 11am.

But a police spokesman said the allegations of a sexual assault had been fully investigated and later proved to be untrue.
