AN Asda employee has admitted embezzling £9000 from the supermarket giant by creating false refunds for goods that were never returned.

Corinne Renwick, 44, from Sighthill, worked in the customer service section of the store at Chesser.

Yesterday at Edinburgh Sheriff Court she pleaded guilty to taking the cash between March 10 and November 8 last year

Management became aware of the scam after realising a high number of refunds were being processed for high-quality goods which had not been sold in the first place.

They saw that they had gone through Renwick’s log-in, and then investigated further through the CCTV system. She admitted what she had done.

Sheriff James Scott deferred sentence for background reports.
