Asbo man handed fire ban

A MAN has been hit with an Asbo banning him from setting fires in his garden and playing loud music following complaints from his neighbours.

Michael Cassidy, 57, of Cockburn Drive in Ormiston, was given the interim antisocial behaviour order following an application to the courts by East Lothian Council.

Complaints about Cassidy's behaviour stretch back to at least April last year.

The Asbo bans Cassidy from "acting in an antisocial manner or behaving in a way likely to cause alarm and distress to others" for a period of two years.

As well as lighting fires and playing loud music, he is banned from banging on the walls of neighbouring properties and going to residents' homes "without invitation".

Councillor Stuart Currie, the authority's community safety leader, said: "I hope that Mr Cassidy takes this interim Asbo very seriously and changes his ways. We will continue to take action against those who persist in behaving in a way that causes distress to others."
